I had same 88" and went with a 203 Tq cam plus a 95" big bore kit.
This did the trick for my touring rides.

I had 204's in mine but at 25k miles i needed new tension shoes so i switched them out with ss510 gear drive. I have 61k on the bike now

SE 203's were pretty much the standard upgrade in '05 and the same cam in the CVO's. A little pricy but for peace of mind you should change the tensioner shoes and spring Assemblies. If you have enough may consider the SE performance upgrade for early Twin Cams that includes the new croller chain, cam plate, oil pump and hydraulic tensioner. If no be prepared to check them every 25k mi.

I run SE 211's in my '03 but have performance heads and forged high compression pistons.

Be careful about the gear drive as you first need to confirm crank run out before installing gears. I have read in this forum that some have crunched gears and ususlly the agreed root cause is runout.

If you plan on keeping the bike an 88" as I am. I don't think you can beat the Andrews 21!

I love this cam. I am a big guy and sometimes ride two up. This cam pulls like a locomotive in the low/mid range where we do most of our riding. Best money I have spent on my bike and worth every penny.

And those that say it runs out of steam on the top end, well it is still better than the stock cam. I easily keep up with my friends on thier 96 and 103's. But I didn't buy it to race, but to ride.

As far as HP/TQ don't know. I have a carb and didn't dyno it. but it runs fantastic and will give you some nice lope at idle.

Do it!

I have heard that the S&S 509's is better with a heavy bike also Andrews 21's. Im in the same boat going to look into both gear drive and the upgraded style depending on my run-out on my 05 Ultra with 24,000 mi

Just upgraded my Fatboy to Andrews 21-N. Once I got the map dialed in I was amazed at how hard the bike pulls.
