Default Mirai Lithium Battery

Has anyone heard of or use Mirai Lithium battery? Was told by rep I can use Battery Tender as a trickle charger. I thought it has to use a Lithium battery tender. BTW, saw it at the Progressive International Motorcycle show in town.

This thread is specific to Marai Lithium battery. I've gone through threads about pros and cons, low ambiance temp affecting Lithium batteries. As well as Lithium vs AGM, why change, etc, etc.

TIA

I haven't heard of Marai but it's my understanding that you can use a Battery Tender on lithium batteries as long as it does not have the automatic pulsation feature.

The Mirai is a lithium iron phosphate battery and should not need a trickle charger...but if for some reason it does, it needs a lithium specific charger.

You can also jump it off of any 12 volt battery, just make sure the vehicle is not running.

Thank you for the info. Regular price $250. Show price $200. They're in town for this weekend's Motorcycle Expo show, I'll clarify with them regarding specific charger.

Your question has me wondering - Boeing's 787 and Chevy's Volt aren't having much luck with their lithium batteries. Is it the battery design, size, charging system design? What's causing the lithium battery fires and how likely would it be to happen in a bike?

Lithium Ion is what Boeing was/is using...it has a heat/fire problem.

Lithium Iron or Lithium Phosphate batteries are different, they do not have a heat/fire issue like the Ion batteries. They are also more expensive...which is why Boeing did not use them.
