Default Street Glide Progressive Lowering Kit Question

I need some advice from you all folks.

I have a Progressive Fork Drop-in kit that I want to install on the bike. The website states that it drops the front end up to 2 inches.
I'm a short rider (5'5") and I already have the seat narrowed for me which has helped but I want to go down just a little further and I heard the drop-in kit will help.
I'm thinking I should only need to drop it down an inch vice the full 2 inches. Do you guys have any thoughts on this? Is 1 inch a decent drop without sacrificing to much in terms of handling? Or should I go all out with 2 inches?

Default Drop in fork lowering kit

Definitely wouldn't go the full 2" on the front end. A good hard bump and you could potentially dent that front fender. Besides being short myself I have been down this road. Lowering the front doesn't buy you much at the seat. I mean it does lower it but it's definitely not 1 to 1. When I put the 21 on the front of mine I measured how much difference the wheel was gonna make and the difference was so small I went ahead. Mine is lowered on the front end too but for some compensation for the 21" not because it was going to buy me something at the seat. You might want to try lowered shocks from Bitchen Baggers as your next endeavor. Same type of Harley shock only cut shorter. Not the best comfort wise but certainly adequate. I have 10 3/4 on my SG. Just remember shorter shock travel will always have an effect on you ride quality. Lower the front end but stay at 1".

I am 5-4 and only went one inch and it was plenty. I use SE heavy fork oil also.

Handling will be great with a lower CG. Doesn't the rear have to be dropped?

What WILL happen though is you cornering clearance is severely compromised.

I would start at lowering 1" or 1.5". Did you, or are you, lowering the rear?

Thanks for the responses. I don't plan on lowering the rear any time soon.

I was thinking that because the Street Glides use the low profile rear shocks that drop an inch from the other touring bikes, but keep the some front end that maybe an inch up front would even the bike out a bit.

like you I'm short and went with a Mustang seat and Progressive 944 shocks, and some Dingo Deans boots.
Believe it or not the boots did help too.

Default Narrow seat?

Jeff, I'm curious what did they do to the seat or did you replace it all together to "narrow" the seat? I too need to lower my 2013 Street Glide as parking and pushing it around in the garage it's just too wide for my short legs. Thanks

Only go 1" if you go 2" you will more than likely slap the fender against the crash bar.
I had to use the Ricor bump stop to keep my fender from slapping the crash bar. You could go 2" if you want to take the crash bars off. I didn't want to do this.

I dropped my bike 2" in the front and 1" in the rear. I also have a 21" on the front. getting a bike lift under my bike is tuff also
Hope this helps.

And TY for your service to our country.
Jim

Normally they will trim the seat pan narrower.
