Default Neutral Indicator Switch

Think my Neutral Switch Indicatoris bad but have a couple questions that I was hoping someone can confirm.

My issue is the netural light will not come on even if the bike is in Neutral. Also the bike will not start unless the bike is in Neutral. If it's in gear and the clutch lever is pulled in it will not start. I checked the switch housing and have no pinched wires, neutral switch pin is still intact and seems to work correctly when I pull the clutch lever it engages and depresses pin like it's supposed to. I think it may be my neutal switch indicator that is on the tranny. I double checked to make sure wires connected to the pin are seated fully, but did not have a chance to check the switch with an ohms meter.

Question 1:
If the neutral switch indicator is bad will that prevent the neutral light from coming on.

Question 2:
Could a bad neutral light bulb should prevent the bike from starting in gear with the clutch engaged.

Question 3:
Will a bad neutral indicator switch prevent the bike from starting in gear even if the clutch is pulled in.

I'm really hoping this is not an internal wiring issue in my handlebars. At this point it's not a big deal, I just make sure i'm in nuetral to start the bike. More of an annoyance knowing that something is not working correctly. I drive by the dealer on my way home so I may just stop in and pick up the switch. Otherwise I will wait until Monday to pick it up after additional trouble shooting and hopefully some feedback here. Thanks in advance.

I think you have 2 issues.

1.) your netural switch is bad
2.) there is a clutch switch inside the left handlebar housing that's either failed or not making contact with the clutch lever perch.

Well the switch in the handlebar housing is what I was refering to that i checked. I know for sure that it is making contact with the clutch lever perch, but I guess I never thought about the actual switch itslef being bad. I'm pretty sure that the neutral swicth indicator is at least part of the culprit

take it off sitting in your garage and see if your neutral indicator starts working.

my favorite kind of trouble shooting. I'll get my 7 year old son to help that way I can stretch it out to a couple beers.
