Default is HOG membership mandatory with a new bike purchase?

Getting ready to purchase a new Road King Custom unless I can find a nice pre-owned 2009 or newer locally. I have not asked the dealer that I will be using if purchasing new bike.

Do I have to take/accept the HOG 1 year membership when purchasing a new bike?

I do not want them sending me all that crap and renewal notices in the mail, and there are no benefits that the 1 year of HOG offers that I am personally interested in. It would be real nice if the FREE 1 year member could be deducted off the price of a new bike purchase.

Well it's free. You can always throw it away.

Its free, just assign them to your junk mail folder. Oh yea, one more thing, Harleys can break down. When that happens you get towed to your nearest HD dealer.

And you don't have to re-join after the free year. You could always tell them you're not interested.

Free towing is worth the free membership. And just be smart and don't give them your e-mail.

You get AAA type breakdown towing and a road map/atlas that also has a listing of all Harley Dealerships in the country in case you need a dealer while on a road trip.
All for free....why wouldn't you want it?

If you don't renew your complimentary membership you'll have to turn in your man card and donate your scooter to the closest Salvation Army Resale Shop!

If nothing else, the roadside assistance could come in handy...

If you're not gonna use it, send it to me LOL

Don't see a dealer deducting the $45 renewal fee off of the cost. It's free, if you don't want it, ignore it along with the other junk mail we all received.
