Default HELP PLEASE: Got my oil pressure reading today.....

I've posted previously about my Road King's oil pressure light flickering.

Today I finally got to attach a pressure gauge and got the readings - below.

Here is my bike's specs: 2000 RKC with 47K and stock cams and stage one. I've got a Dobeck TFI.

There is no knocking or tap-tap-tap and the idle is where it should be.

The readingsoil at full level - Amsoil 20/50)

At start:
Idle - 38
Cold 2000 RPM - 40
Cold 2500 RPM - 45

Operating temp (oil temp 185)
Idle - 20
2000 RPM - 40
2500 RPM - 40
3000 RPM - 40

Is it strange that the pressure when warm does not go above 40 psi?

If you can tell me if the bike sounds normal or not that would be great - THANKS!

Sound like pretty good numbers to me.
As the oil warms up it gets thinner, so your pressure will drop at idle.
It's not unusual to see warm idle pressure at 10 pounds, and sometimes less.
I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will come on with a better way to explain.

It sounds good to me. Why would it go above 40 psi? Oil has reached temperature and 40 is it... I can't say if that is normal but I'd be happy with those numbers on any vehicle.

well guys you don"t know how good that makes me feel - with the light flickering, i guess it could've been a pump problem and the possible damaged engine but it looks like either a bad sender which i am replacing or just a short in the wire

thanks

The 2011 Touring Service Manual indicates the oil pump has a pressure relief. My manual in the engine oil flow section of chapter 3 says pressure relief is 35psi.

EDIT to add; Normal pressure at 2000 rpm is 30-38. Maximum pressure 50 psi
