Loud clank nuetral to 1st
I had the compensator replaced with SE compensator couple thousand miles ago. No other issues with bike. Bike has about 10,000 miles on it.
I start the bike in neutral let warm up, go to 1st and hear a loud clank. Louder than usual. Any ideas ?
I apologize in advance for any incorrect spelling or grammar.
thanks,

Normal. If it is a clunk. Harleys have done that since the beginning of time.

It's the sound of the primary chain snapping up the slack from a sticky cold clutch. Designed flaw.

Sticky clutch plates from sitting and cold temps make it worse too.

Harley transmissions do not have synchronizers.

I replaced the primary oil with B&M trick shift transmission fluid. Not only did the clutch plates stop sticking, but it shifts so much better..

Not really, if you start it with the clutch pulled so that the plates release its nice and quiet. I am not saying "in" gear, just with the clutch pulled in neutral.
