Just picked up a 2003 RKC and with my short arms, I wanted to switch to the reduced reach handlebar. Takled to my local deale. Even though the bars are just 50 bucks they want 150.00 for a new break line. WTF!!!
Has anyone else changed to these bars. Did you have to change the brake line as well?
I changed mine to the Heritage bars and changed nothing else. If its the same reduced reach bars a friend of mine put on he hates them the hand/wrist position is like a roto-tiller
I put the reduced reach bars on my RK. It makes for a much more comfortable riding position, but they don't look nearly as nice as the bars that were on it. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow so you can see what they look like. I didn't have to change ANY of the hardware or lines. The had to bend the brake line slightly, but that's it.
I am getting the heritage bars installed today. I also have somewhat short arms. the bar is $50, I get a 20% discount and the labor is one hour for $60. so it should be $100 plus tax. I checked with two dealers and both said no cable changes.
I have them on my 03 RKC (see below) and used all the original cables. It takes a little time to switch them. About 2 hours. I like the arm position with the reduced reach bars.
