2002 Roadk King Classic Purchase
Hi,
I am thinking about purchasing a 2002 Road King Classic with a little under 26k miles on it. I was hoping to get some advice on what to ask or look for.
I will look at the service records and read prior to ask whether or not the oil in the forks has been changed and if the cam tensioner is still there (?). Is that correct?
Also - the seller claims he put a whole Vance and Hines system on the bike. Truthfully, I have never seen this set up on a touring bike and only on softails. I am referring to the "Over/under" of both exhausts being on one side.
Thanks for your help!
Andy

Arguably the best Twin Cam made (forged crank.)
Careful if it's MM (efi,) not much support for that. They run fine (most) but it gets "iffy" when you start modifying them.
Take a good look at the swing arm where the axle runs through (some had problems with cracking.)
Good looking bikes...

Ask for receipts as well. There is nothing wrong with the early chain tensioners, they just need to be checked, then updated or serviced with more frequency than the later system. Also, as mentioned, the 2002 has pretty much the best, most durable bottom end ever to grace a twinkie (twin cam). Look at it, ride it and ask questions. Also, bear in mind its past the golden age. Its more than ten years old. Passing that mark means its resale is in the TANK. Get it cheap, or keep on looking. Don't let some yutz living in the past muscle you into a ridiculous price. There are countless versions of the exact same motorcycle for sale. Don't over pay for this one....... unless its the bike of your dreams.
