It depends mostly on how heavy your right wrist is.....

I have been riding for over 40 years and I don't think I ever checked my MPG on a motorcycle....I just don't care, as long as it runs good.

02 Road King (w/ FI), stock except Rush slip-ons. 29,000+ miles, ride like I didn't steal it. Average 33.3 mpg. No worries - beats running lean.

I would think 40 mpg isabout avg for any bike. Yours seems a littke lower than normal, tho. As said earlier, prob look at another map and take it from there.

I'm on my 4th touring bike and never have averaged 40. When that becomes an issue, I'll get a moped or the like.

By the way, I bet I could alter my driving habits and average 40 but life's too short.

It's not a canned map, it's a dyno tune. Oh well, I'll live with it.

My TC88 with 44mm Mikuni, SE 203 Cams, SE slip-ons and Air Cleaner would get mid to high 40s when riding country roads (55mph and under) - once on the interstate and running 75 mileage would drop into the high 30s (big carb sucked the fuel)

Even better. Take it to your tuner and have him adjust it.

What I did,

02FLHPI 88ci big valve heads, Andrews 21 cam S&S a/c Jackpots PCIII. IT was getting 36-38 mpg. Uphill, downhill, with the wind against the wind, HER riding it me flogging it.

Ditched the PCIII, added PCV, w/Autotune. Borrowed some AFR from iclicks map, ran a bunch of tuning runs. She is now getting 42-43mpg. Yesterday took a nice 250+ mile ride and she got 46.4mpg.

It's all in your tune. Lean it out in the cruising range, 2250-3000rpm up to 10-15% throttle in 5-6 gears. you are not going to run hot at 55-65mph on the road.

The only way I get close to 40 is when I ride with geezers?? Low 30s the norm. But ya may find someone that can tune for mpg??
