back from the dead - 07 ultra
long story short, while I was in the hospital hurricane sandy put my 07 ultra under 2 feet of water. the bike's fluids were flushed out and the entire bike sprayed down with desel fuel. then put aside for almost 18 months.
my younger bother who just retired and found himself with plenty of time on his hands stepped up to the plate and wanted to take on the resotration challenge. Told him if you get it running, its yours.
-all bearings were relpaced
-all relays replaced
-battery replaced
-starter replaced
-most of the fuse terminations in both fuse boxes were replaced
-brake shoes replaced
-rear brake switch replaced
-intake manifold replaced
-the thundermax computer was dismantled and cleaned out. the main board was expoy coated so it did well while submerged
the bulk of the work was in the fuse boxes. took about 2 weeks to reterminate all the fuse connectors
a new base map was loaded to erase all the learned settings.....since the intake manifold and all intake sensors were replaced.
last night at arround 11:30 pm, the 07 ulra gasped a large breath of air and roared up to idle speed.everything checked out and the bike is back on the road.
my brother is now a proud owner of an 07 ultra...which he now knows the insides and out...having brought it back from the dead.
I knew he could do it....and am very happy that this is one bike hurricane sandy had to give back.
