I use a nickel to remove the big chunks then lube and 0000 steel wool, never a problem. I have removed microfiber, boot rubber and frog toggs, worked every time.

Another trick I have found that works:

When the pipe is hot after the next ride, or that ride if you found it quick enough...Take a wet ALL COTTON clothe and most things melted will wipe right off, then just a little fine polishing once it's cooled down.

It must be wet and must be 100% cotton!!!!

heat up the pipes and wipe it off with a wet cotton towel. There will be a lot of steam and heat so be careful.

Next time use oven cleaner on a warm pipe (no more than 130*). Be sure to spray it on a rag away from any painted surfaces, and then apply the oven cleaner generously onto the affected area and allow it to sit until the pipe cools off completely. It`ll just wipe clean then. No elbow grease needed and above all, no scratches.

Normally I will let the bike cool down completely before washing or quick detailing, but 2 weeks ago I was in a rush to go to an end of the ridin season party and went to give the bike a quick wipe down after ridin earlier. My luck I dropped a micro fiber towel on hot pipes. Not bad, but for it landing on pipes for a micro second left some nasty stuff behind. I forgot it was there till I seen this post. Gonna try a few 1 or 2 of these suggestions tommorow

DING DING DING, that is the correct answer. Works like a charm.

Scrape it off with a Penny then polish it up.
I know it sounds like a terrible idea but, the Copper is soft enough that it doesn't scratch the Chrome. It took some convincing for me to try it the first time but I'm a believer now.
