Default Anyone here ride two abreast with a 2 wheeler?

A couple of our biker friends are active MC members or hangarounds... They ride tight & fast and are obviously well versed in riding in formation. Back many years ago when I was with the MC, we rode 2 abreast all the time when we traveled together. It's quite a rush riding in a group like that. I really miss it.

Mrs ZD & I have ridden with some two wheelers and most are not interested in riding two abreast with another 2 wheeler, let alone a 3 wheeler! However, our R&W friends ride two abreast with us as a matter of course when the numbers permit... Tight formations, tight turns. Good fun! Takes me back to my youth!

Just curious if any three wheeler pilots here ever ride 2 abreast with 2 wheelers?

Not on your life - - or mine for that matter. A few weeks ago an a$$wipe came out of a driveway - with absolutely no warning - I mean none. If I was riding 2 abreast we both would have been killed. I lifted the rear wheel a foot of the ground just barely missing the jerk. No one, no matter great a rider they are would have survived that.
Out on the open highway = maybe - not a chance in the city.

I don't see the rush riding side by side. I like a little elbow room.
If you like it, go for it - who's to say you can't?

Stay safe.

I would think that would add too much stress to what should be an enjoyable ride. Constantly worrying about adequate spacing and whether an obstacle or vehicle could cause an unexpected swerve would just defeat the purpose of having a good ride, IMO.

Once and a while the wife and I will let my girlfriend ride her two wheeler next to us. Depends on the Road conditions though.

Riding two abreast is suicide.

I don't care who does it, I don't care how long you've done it, it is a death wish.

Don't do it. Ever.

The thought of riding two abreast reminds me of a tight assault helicopter formation making an insertion into a hot LZ. I can't think of any reason other than a parade or a funeral why it would be necessary.

And you're rarely going 70 in a parade or a funeral.
