2016 or 2017 TG?

Test drive each, then see what the power difference is. See if you can really feel it in the seat.
As far as Heat, it is going to be an issue with both. Always is, always will be until they go full liquid cooled. As lean as they have to tune these machines, you can guarantee heat won't go away. Maybe a bit cooler, but not enough to satisfy.

My buddy and I just had this conversation. We each bought new 2016 Trikes within a week of each other two months ago.
His opinion: if he would have known that the 2017's had the 107's he would have passed on the 2016. He wants more power and would have jumped on a 2017 as soon as a close by dealer had a red one available.
My opinion: We both paid about $5,000 less than we would have paid for a 2017. Since we both ride daily we tend to run up a lot of miles each year on our bikes. By buying a 2016 late in the model year we will be a little ahead of the game on miles. Plus I am not a huge fan of owning any new motor that anyone bring out the first year.
Conclusion: if I was making the decision today I would simply make a really good deal on the 2016, then wait and see how the 107's do. If there are zero issues with them then right when the 2018's are coming out I would either sell and buy or trade.

I keep looking at my 2016 TGU that I have put 14k miles on and a select group of farkles that make the ride just the way I want it (DK Custom lift kit and floor board extenders, Bad *** flashing tail lights, updated Infotainment system software, rear bumper and luggage rack, Kuryakyn cruiser pegs, adjustable rider backrest, Dunlop American Elite front tire and HD Gripper grips). When I think about the fact that I like my ride so much and it runs so well, the appeal of the '17 M8 TGU diminishes greatly. Sure, I like the latest technology, but the M8 is still an unproven lump in the hands of the public and only time will tell us how it holds up. I think I will continue to ride the wheels off of my trike and maybe in 2018 or 2019, think about possibly moving to the newer configuration? By then, I will be about 70 years old and likely thinking that spending what will likely be another $10k may not be worth it? This may be my last Harley?

This is news to me. Are you suggesting that the 2017 Tri Glide has done away with the rear air suspension shock scheme? How does one easily adjust the rear shocks for different loads?

Yes the Trikes will continue to have the air suspension as previous years. The valve to inflate is in the same place as earlier models.
I just bought one this weekend hopefully they will get all the add-ons installed by Wednesday so I take a sick day and RIDE........
