I have a windshield from Clarks Custom Shields, and it came with a gasket.

That's about all I've seen.
I got mine from the local dealership (had a HD part number). It is about a half inch wide and fits between the windshield and the outer fairing. It runs the length of the windshield/fairing. By the way, it's actually called windshield mounting tape (even though it's foam) and here's the part number and cost.
Product ID: 58247-96
TAPE, WINDSHIELD MOUNTING

TAPE, WINDSHIELD MOUNTING
Price: $5.99

there should be a rubber gasket between the windshield and the fairing , on the outside, ot fits flush with the fairing to stop the water from running down into the fairing...

I don't remember a gasket when I installed the LRS windshield. There's a rubber gasket/mloding that runs both sides of the fairing and down to the bottom but nothing between the windhshield and fairing. Will have to go by local stealership and chk on that part number..thanks bubba49

+1, I've had quite a few apart and have never seen a gasket on any windshield as it came from Harley Davidson.

The number is a good number. I ordered a couple. Mine didn't come with one either, but it is a good idea, & the luck I have taking things apart that have gaskets,,,, well I'll have a repair on hand. Not a bad price $5.20.
Had to go to a parts book as the number didn't come up in a parts search. So they haven't sold one before.
But then why would they do anything preventative ??

Thanks for all the replies about the windshield gasket. Didn't mean to change the thread from Diag Code.

Taking the trike in tomorrow problem with odometer switch is worse.
Saturday filled it up and showed 175miles until empty and Sunday filled it up and showed 125 miles until empty. Wash the bike and odometer sticks on total mileage on bike and cannot get it to cycle thru remaining, trip a&B miles, etc..
Have checked battery terminals and they tight, removed right side panel and checked connections, tight..

Dealer stating Fuel Guage is bad and have to order a new one. Maybe a week or two before getting a new one. When I asked how does the Fuel Guage affect cycling thru the Odometer, Remaining Miles, Trip A&B dealer stated "Can't duplicate error". So, I asked if they put water on front fairing area and they stated no...
