I purchased a 110th anniversary trike and it has reverse. My question is this. Is there a separate electric motor for reverse or does reverse use the starter motor? I have been told both.
It has a seperate reverse motor. Pretty costly if I remember correctly. Hondas use the starter motor if my facts are correct. Go to the trike section for tons of good info.

Your facts are correct. The motor is very expensive, $1,500. If mine ever goes I will put in a mechanical one,
Its a motor that drives a larger ring gear on the rear axle. It does "look" like a starter motor, but that's all. The engine starter sets in the usual place between the engine and trans.
