Default Pulling Trailer

Hi, I just bought a 2014 tg. I have a Hannigan Serra trailer that I used to pull behind my gl1800 trike. The trailer weighs 200lbs empty. Is this to much to pull behind the tg? I know about the warranty issues, it was the same with the honda trike. I'm not sure if tg would have enough power. Thanks , Norm

Have towed a Bushtec Turbo 2 (125lb empty)behind a 88 ci Ultra for 6 years. Getting up to highway speed did take a little time and would have to down shift on long hills. With the TG really don't notice it at all. Getting up to speed on the highway is not a problem, hills just twist the throttle. Yours is heavier but can't see where it would be a problem.

Not a problem. The wife and I packed our Escapade trailer with clothes, tent, and all camping gear and toured TN, AL, MS, LA, AR. We pulled with a 2012 TG. Not a problem with power. Just don't let the dealer see the hitch.

You should have no problem. It will accelerate a bit slower, and it will take a bit longer to stop. But it will have no problem pulling it.

This is around 450 lbs loaded-

Like others have said, it'll pull it, you just may have to down shift a bit more. The trick is trying to time your hills, get a nice little run before you start up them, this will eliminate some of the down shifting.

I pull a Bushtec Quantum with my 2009 FLHTCU ( basically stock except for an air cleaner, mufflers and a mild tune ) and I have no problems pulling it loaded with me and the Ol' Gal loaded for wherever we're going.

Now strap another 400 pounds plus more rotating mass from the 3rd wheel and added drive train parts and you'll have a whole different animal. Get onto something like a 7% grade and your going to be dropping down a gear or two.

No big deal! Like others have said, you will have to shift more often but just take it easy and you'll be fine. My wife and I pulled a fully loaded 25 cu ft trailer 8500 miles, through 22 states for 7 weeks last summer. No regrets! In fact, we want to do it again.

We also have a Hannigan trailer behind a '11 TG. Started out with a '06 Ultra and in '10 traded for the '11 TG. So far we have been in 49 states and it pulls with no problems. We do a lot of long distance riding and the extra storage space really makes it nice. Any one with a wife that likes to ride knows how much extra clothes you need........ At first I thought I would have clutch problems but so far so good.........59K miles to date. Too much snow and cold to ride in OHIO........
