Smile DK comfort lift

I am just about ready to install my DK comfort kit. When it's done, how many PSI shall put in the shocks?
Also, the H-D owner manual states that it is not a good idea to use an air compressor. Is it a must to purchase the special inflator from H-D or someone has a better idea?

Thank you for your help. John

Psi will vary based on your load. Start with 20 and go up. NEVER use a compressor for air, The shocks hold very little air and you will blow the seals. Get one of the hand pumps from HD or one of the many vendors on the web and carry it with you.

Always use the hand pump...
how much air...that's something you'll have to decide what suits you best, start at 20 and adjust...

Wal Mart carries a bicycle pump made by Bell that looks a lot like the $49.00 Harley hand pump. It has a gage attached. Normally $19, got mine on sale for $12.

Make sure what ever pump you use has the "no air loss" feature in the fitting on the hose. The Harley, or Progressive pump has that feature.
You can save around $10 bucks either on Ebay or Amazon. You need the 0-60# gauge for the TriGlide shocks.

Here's an answer concerning rear shock pressure from Kevin at DK Custom that I found in an earlier thread. I think he hits the nail on the head. His entire post can be found here as post #5:

Bubba

"* The suggested PSI for the rear shocks in the manual does not seem to have any relationship to reality.

I have found the best way to get the best PSI in the rear shocks is to find a road with a rough section that I can make multiple passes on.

I pick an arbitrary PSI and make a pass over the rough spot. I then change the PSI 2 lbs and make another pass. I keep doing this, making the 2 lbs psi change (BOTH above and below my starting psi) until I find the "sweet spot".

It is helpful to know that, because of the shock valving, it may actually be "softer" at a higher PSI than a lower one...so I just take the time to run the entire possible range in 2 psi increments."

just have to play with the shock pressure , but sometimes you may think the pressure is to high because of a hard ride when it may be bottoming out and need more , let us know what your sweet spot is , I run mine at 35 solo , handles good
