will a wider front tire help with stability when driving slow, coming to a stop. seems like it in theory it might help. has any one tried different widths that can help. have a 07 deluxe with HD Dunlop's on now.

Something presently feels unstable on your bike now at slow speeds? If it's unstable, I wouldn't expect a wider tire to be the solution.

What model and year is your bike and what size is your current front tyre? If they are old or worn, or a poor choice of brand a fresh tyre will probably transform your bike.

I have a 2007 softail deluxe with new dunlops front and rear. i was thinking a vintage style tire with the wide flat tread pattern like the old bikes did would help. dunlops are run at 36 psi just seems that the front end is hard to keep straight coming to a stop it wants to flip flop . it's like the crown of the tire is to sharp. feels like the bike is un-balanced.

Honestly, I think your slow riding on lined roads. The Dunlops are crack chasers due to the tread pattern. Get a different brand.Metzler's, Michelin's anything but Dunlops would help. JMO

I know what you mean, I also find my 09 FXSTC a bit skittish when riding real slow.

I'm changing the 21" front wheel to a 19" x 3.5" with 120 x 70 x 19 tyre over the winter months for looks rather than handling and will let you know if there's a noticeable difference, but it'll be a long wait, I won't be riding again before March next year!

I'm Curious as to How you make out with a 120 on a 3.5" rim. I'm running a 120 on a 3" which I thought was the max width for a 120.... In a 19"

Phew, you had me worried for a moment but on checking the Ridewright website (Rim to Tire fitment) it will be fine.

Got the rebuilt wheel back yesterday.
The 120 tyre looks great on the 3.5" rim.
Tomorrow I'll modify that damaged front fender I got off eBay so that it sits correctly between the sliders and closer to the tyre.
