Default Help Needed: Upgrading to a 21 inch front tire.

2000 Roadking Custom. I want to change out to a 21 inch front big spoke front tire. Is this a direct change out? Do I need to change the rotors or buy any spacers? What does this job entail? Thanks for the feedback!

As long as the New Aftermarket wheel is the correct fitment (2000-later "Touring" with 1" axle).

Re-use your Rotors (get new bolts) or buy new 11.5" rotors
Re-use your spacers

May need to drill out (2) fender holes slightly (i think the rears) to pivot the fender for better 21" tire clearance.

I just installed a 21" DNA mammoth spoke on my 04 RKC. Just watch that the one side of the hub is a little more inset for the larger spacer that goes in the left side of the bike. I had to drill the rear mounting holes with a 3/8 drill bit. Help Needed: Upgrading to a 21 inch front tire.-photo180.jpg

It should be a change out if I buy the correct wheel for tge bike? Are their any additional parts I need to purchase? Will Ibe able to keep my caliper and rotor covers? How drasticly does it effect handeling? I am just trying to weigh the pros and cons before I pull the trigger on it and change it out.

It's a direct fit if you buy the right parts. 21x3.5 and a 120/70-21 tire. As mentioned, a slight tweak of the fender holes might be needed.

No real change in handling, the 21" is a bit less forgiving of potholes.

I also lowered the front end 2". I also put on lyndall gold plus brake pads because I read factory pads will tear up the polished rotors.
I haven't riding yet so I don't know about handling yet. I purchased from kc international and heard some bad reviews but they were very good to deal with me. Wheel went on fine. Had a local tire dealer throw on a Avon cobra 120/70/21. I also took a dremmel and ground off the front stud on the fender for the tip light.
