Default Need Info...08 Rims on 06 Sporty

Wife has an 06 1200 Low with spoke rims. I picked up a set of cast rims off of an 08 1200 Low. I know that the 06 has a 3/4" front axle and 1" rear and the 08 has 25mm front and rear.

All 4 wheels have the complete bearings and spacers. Can I just transfer my 06 guts to the 08 or is there something different with the hubs?

Thanks Jim...

More confusion..page 686 of the 2014 P&A Catalogue lists bearing kits for 2006 3/4" front 43833-07a and 1" rear 43861-08a. This is what my dealer says to buy to mount the 08 rims. He said the hubs are all the same size.

To prove it, he showed my a set of wheels on Page 703 which fit 2000 and up, you just install the brg kit appropriate to your year of bike. The rims were Slotted 19" Front 44057-07 and the matching 16" rear 43929-08.

Sure looks like all the hub are the same. He said yes the 25mm bearing are thinner than the 3/4" and 1" but use spacers to compensate.

So can I just transfer the guts from my 06 to the 08? Or, can I just buy 25mm axles and leave the guts in the 08 rims alone?

Final Answer....knock out 08 bearings and spacer....install new 06 bearings and reuse spacer from 06.

Thanks for all your help....Jim

No problem...glad I could help....Jim
