Good Ride: Carey Hart, Big B Get the Party Started Aug. 6 in S.D.

By -

Annual benefit biker rally coincides with Sturgis, supports our veterans and is set to include famous friends like Big B and BMXer Heath Pinter.

Freestyle motocross legend Carey Hart could think of no better organization than Infinite Hero to benefit from his “Good Ride” non-profit project, which sees 100% of its proceeds benefiting military veterans. “When I started this thing,” Hart says of the Good Ride Rally, “it was about, ‘What can I do to give back?'”

Now, you too can help give back to veterans and have yourself a great time by joining Hart and his famous biker and BMXer friends at his next ride on August 6 in Sturgis, South Dakota. Coinciding with Buffalo Chip-Sturgis (Aug. 4-12), Hart’s Good Ride Rally begins at 8:30 a.m. with sign-in at the Indian Motorcycles Sturgis dealership, then it’s kickstands up at 10 a.m. (Sure, Hart may be a spokesman for Indian Motorcycles, but he’s also married to rockstar Pink, so we’re gonna forgive him for that misguided alignment with Indian.) And don’t worry, Good Ride is open to all riders of V-twin bikes. So, don’t feel weird when your Harley makes those Indian bikers feel inadequate.

‘I love going to rallies; I love being part of them. And now, starting Good Ride,
I have a purpose to go to these rides and my purpose is to raise money.’

If you’re lucky, Hart himself will personally greet you at the event and hand you an armband, as he did at his April ride in Laughlin, Nevada. “I think a lot of people were kind of tripping out that I was actually there checking everybody in, which was cool,” he says. “I got to literally shake hands with every person that came in and signed up for the ride.”

Hart will likely be joined by a number of famous friends from the motorcycle and motocross words, including BMXer Heath Pinter, who is a regular at the Good Ride events.

Our favorite hit-making hooligan rapper Big B will be there, too, and he’s super-stoked to fire off some guns. “When Good Ride concludes at Sturgis Buffalo Chip, all riders will be hosted by SilencerCo to shoot suppressed firearms!!!” says Big B (the artist also known as Bryan Mahoney) in a recent Instagram post.

But the rapper has a serious side too. “Great cause, great people, man,” says Big B of Infinite Hero. “It’s a pleasure and an honor for us to be able to partner with them this year.” Infinite Hero partners with like-minded organizations to provide access to innovative rehabilitation programs that address the unique needs of veterans and their families.

Good Ride — whose motto is “Go for a ride – Change a life” — puts a social spin on the traditional motorcycle charity ride. “I love going to rallies; I love being part of them,” says Hart. “And now, starting Good Ride, I have a purpose to go to these rides and my purpose is to raise money.”
