Harley Flat Track Racers Ready to Tackle OKC Mile
American Flat Track championship season resumes at state-of-the-art Remington Park.
Last year saw a thrilling Flat Track debut at Remington Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. And now the much anticipated sequel takes place Saturday, June 17. This weekend’s OKC Mile at the high tech horse racing facility marks only the second time Harley Flat Track racers have tackled the track. But it’s already one of the more popular stops on the American Flat Track championship tour.
It’s also the 7th of 18 races scheduled for the 2017 season, and only the seventh such race for Harley’s new XG750R. And so far, growing pains have unfortunately stricken the Harley Flat Track team. Jake Johnson currently sits a team best 9th in the standings. Following a promising fourth place finish at the season’s inaugural race at the Daytona TT, he’s failed to finish better than 11th since.
Rounding out the H-D team are teammates Brandon Robinson (11th in the standings) and Kenny Coolbeth (12th). The trio will look to get their season back on track in Oklahoma. And if any of the factory backed teams are capable of doing so, it’s team Harley. Coolbeth is a 3-time Grand National Champion, Robinson has won four National events, and Johnson has taken home two championships.
You can catch all the action on NBCSN on Thursday, August 24 at 10pm EST with flag-to-flag coverage and a peek behind the scenes. You can also watch live at FansChoice.tv, with practice sessions starting at 3pm EST, followed by the opening ceremonies at 7pm.
