Rolling Thunder run is a massive and very popular Harley-Davidson parade-style ride in Washington, D.C which dates back to 1988, but for the last few years, the spotlight has switched to the “Lone Marine.”

The Lone Marine is the nickname that was given to Staff Sgt. Tim Chambers. Chambers is a retired and injured Marine who’s stood at attention and saluted fellow Rolling Thunder riders since 2002, and each year shows a intense sense of patriotism that is second to none.

Staff Sgt. Chambers has many times stood in the same place while saluting for three to five hours without moving, and in 2011 even with a broken risk which should’ve been on a cast. Still, that didn’t stop him to give riders “the look” as he said, and thank the veteran riders for their heroic service to the armed forces.

Fellow veterans, the general public and others have made it a point to offer the Lone Marine water, support and have even helped him by slipping him some aspirin to help him with the physical strain that comes from standing in that position for an extended period of time.

“I am doing this because America needs to see it and I want them to emulate that in any way they can across country,” said staff Sgt. Tim Chambers.

What an incredible example of bravery and love for his country.
