Pennsylvania Proposes Making Harley-Davidson Official State Motorcycle

Lawmakers likely to pass a bill later this year that would make Harley-Davidson the official state bike of Pennsylvania.

Harley-Davidson has deep roots in Pennsylvania, and to commemorate that special relationship, the state will vote to name Harley as the official state motorcycle. The bill, currently in committee at the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in Harrisburg, is expected to go to a vote later this year. Given Harley’s plant in York, their strong commitment to the community, and the iconic brand itself, we can’t imagine anyone would vote no.

“The heritage of Harley Davidson comes through Pennsylvania,” Justin Hunold of Electric City Harley-Davidson told WNEP News. “They’re built right down the road which is awesome. They’re originally from Milwaukee, but with the production right here in York, I think it’s a great thing for the state.”

Naming Harley-Davidson as the state motorcycle would be a solid vote of support for the company, who is facing rocky times with the retaliatory tariffs for the EU, and a wavering court of opinion. Many Pennsylvania residents still have Harley’s back, and feel Harley is the only choice for Pennsylvania.

“It should be,” said Francis Gurnari. “It’s American, Harley Davidson. It’s United States of America.”
