Restored 1969 Harley FLH Is a Creamsicle Dream

Harley FLH

Personalization is a big part of Harley’s raging success. But this original FLH proves that it’s also important to remember where you came from!

It pretty much goes without saying that Harley-Davidson motorcycles are among the most popular vehicles on the planet to customize. Heck, most bikers don’t even wait to bring their rides home from the showroom before the mods begin. This extreme level of personalization has existed almost as long as Harley itself. Which is why seeing original, restored rides like this immaculate 1969 Harley FLH seems a little strange at first.

Strange, because this era was a golden age of chopping, customizing, and essentially undoing anything Harley did from the factory. And yet this Harley FLH, which we spotted on eBay, survived the prying hands of enthusiasts all these years. The motor and transmission are original but rebuilt. In fact, everything was repaired, replaced, or rebuilt with originality in mind. That means a combination of OEM and repop parts where necessary.

The results of that meticulous work speak for themselves. This dreamy creamsicle of a ride is not only a rare sight, but a total time warp as well. We can easily imagine somebody cruising down the highway on the back of this bad boy right as the dawn of the chopper movement was on the horizon. Perhaps the owner(s) of this Harley FLH just decided they didn’t want to join the rebellion. Or perhaps they enjoyed comfy cruising more than being a badass!

Chances are, we won’t ever know the real story of this time capsule. But we are thankful that those who have been lucky enough to be graced with its ownership over the years resisted the urge to change it. After all, being able to trace Harley’s lineage is an important part of preserving its history. Just as important as the art of personalization and customizing!
