Two New Harley-Davidson Models Named

As H-D works to deliver on its promise of 100 new models in ten years, we know now the names of at least three of them.

Just a few months ago, Harley-Davidson announced their grand plan for the future. Perhaps the most intriguing part of that plan (other than the coming electric motorcycle) was the announcement that a whopping 100 new models were on the way over the next decade. Clearly, Harley isn’t wasting any time trademarking names for this massive lineup, either. Just a short time ago we learned of a new model to be named “Bronx,” and now we’ve got two new names to share.

Harley-Davidson

Those names are Pan America and 48X, as Motorcycle discovered from recent trademark filings. Right off the bat, 48X sounds like it could be some sort of variation of the existing Sportster Forty-Eight. That bobber style ride has already proven quite popular among the younger set, paving the way for another version. Perhaps this could be done simply with some styling changes, or maybe even be treated to a performance boost. Or perhaps it’s entirely something entirely different.

The name Pan America conjures up something altogether different than a stylish, mean, street bruiser. Instead, it makes you think of long distance, multi-state travel. Which, of course, relates pretty well to Harley-Davidson and its touring lineup. Harley already has a pretty solid lineup of comfy cruisers, but nothing based on the Sportster. So perhaps they’re looking to fill that perceived gap in the lineup.

Harley-Davidson

The brand just rolled out an all-new, revamped Softail lineup. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if Harley-Davidson decided to do the same with the aging Sportster. It makes almost too much sense not to happen, but of course this is all speculation at this point. But you can bet we’ll be waiting and watching as H-D looks to expand its lineup with a host of exciting future offerings!
