Default Shocks Properly Aligned?

Anyone know how to make sure shocks are properly aligned? Like plumb or vertical or whatever? I remember Howard Messner telling me something about a straight edge and plumb line way back in 2016.

From Howard's "Motorcycle Metal, General Unofficial Mounting Instructions" on page 2.

DK Customs released a nifty affordable tool for this. I bought one only to find that my shocks and frame were pretty much spot on. You can try "Memorial10" coupon code which may work.

Tärkeintä on kuitenkin, ettei mikään kiinnityspiste pakota iskaria vääntöön. Pieni poikkeama on normaalia, mutta selvä vinous kannattaa korjata ennen lopullista kiristystä.

Good general advice..... but.....

Most motorcycle shocks are not perfectly vertical. So a plum line will not help in most cases. That is why a straight edge is recommended for most motorcycle applications. That will line up the mount holes AND allow you to see if the mount holes are "off" and may need a spacer/washer....
