Bikes, Babes & Booze: There’s a Reason Sturgis is Called the ‘Best Party Anywhere.’ Plan Now to Attend the Rockin’ 2017 Fest, Aug. 4-13 in S.D.

For 35 years the Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, South Dakota, has planned a party around the two things that can make any stranger a friend and any friend a brother — motorcycles and music. And when it’s combined with one of the country’s oldest riding rally’s, the 77-year-old Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, you have the “Best Party Anywhere.” Of course, the uber-sexy, annual “Miss Buffalo Chip” pageant is just icing on the cake.

Summer will be here before you know, so now is the time to start planning for “Sturgis,” the biggest bike event of the year. Specific details on the 2017 event have yet to be revealed, but admission passes are available now for the 2017 Sturgis Buffalo Chip rally taking place August 4-13. The main event is preceded by a pre-rally party happening July 31-August 3. Longtime Sturgis-fan Ben Davis sums it up best:“[It’s] good music, good people, good ridin’, good sh-t!”

The legendary Sturgis fest lets Harley riders and motorcycle enthusiasts enjoy the authentic rally experience with awesome concert lineups and events every night. Last year’s 76th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally was reportedly attended by 350,000 to 400,000 motorcycle enthusiasts.

Bands have not yet been announced for the 2017 event, but last year’s amazing line-up included superstars like Willie Nelson, Kid Rock, iconic The Runaways guitarist-singer Lita Ford, Lynyrd Skynyrd, L.A.’s Buckcherry, chart-topping hard rockers Five Finger Death Punch and country singer Miranda Lambert, among many others. In 2010, the prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, headline the party for motorcycle-riding metalheads. The top-tier talent routinely rocks the Sturgis stages over the course of nine consecutive nights.

Currently, the producers of Sturgis are hosting a “Guess the Band” contest on the event’s site, offering passes to meet this year’s music artists.

Lodging options at the site include cabins, RVs, and tent rentals.

The 2017 rally’s rides feature the 10th Annual Legends Ride on August 7, which includes an escorted ride from Deadwood through the Black Hills. The Legends Ride ends at the legendary Buffalo Chip with a special reception and pre-concert party. You’ll also want to be there for the eighth annual Biker Belles Celebration on August 9 to cheer women in riding and support organizations benefiting women’s causes.

Then, help honor past and present members of our nation’s finest during the annual Freedom Celebration on August 11. The Sturgis Buffalo Chip’s “Military Tribute Day” gives you the opportunity to experience a variety of powerful presentations, moving events and inspiring performances, all specifically designed to recognize those who have selflessly served. More rides are to be announced at later dates.

Plans are still coming together for music side of the summer event, but you can be among the first to know which bands will be providing the soundtrack by keeping check o the Sturgis Rally website and the event’s Facebook Page. And, hey, reserve your Rat Hole Beer Mug while you’re at it!
