did you notice any performance gains? losses? ive always been curious about air filters and custom ones

Not real testing done to establish. A very short test ride felt a slight response gain. As far as power goes, that will have to wait a day or so. Installing a Powervision to get the tuning right before I report.

If you have quiet pipes some chuffing might be heard through the intake. Not a problem for me, as I can't even sneak up on a jackhammer operator. I actually like that sound of the final cylinder stroke when I hit the kill switch.


I will add that this was a temporary open style air cleaner, to have on in conjunction with the PV tuner map I ordered. I plan on building a better constructed one of my own design soon. This one functions and looks rough if you squat beside it and squint, but when out it doesn't spend time parked.


When all is done I will update...

a proper sized female "Sex Bolt" (yea, thats what its called....) may work out well for your "flush bolt" thoughts...

Default Update.


After the spot weld failure, on the EMPI backplate, I dropped by parts store and picked up a 12$ 4" air cleaner, and did the mreed mod.
I deviated by eliminating the carb support bracket and reinstalling the throttle body brace as shown below.

OP how are the breather bolts going? Noticed any blowby?

Some.... not enough to cry about. Tends to vary with riding style.
