Why some people throw 5k on a Harley to bearly get 100hp when you can buy a different brand with way over 100hp?, Triumph Rocket3 comes to mind, 140hp and 150lbs of torque, Yamaha Vmax? and a few others?
Am i the only one with 100% stock Harley and with full intention to leave it like that?
when i wanna enjoy the ride i ride my Harley, when i wanna go fast i ride the Rocket, when i feel girly i ride the wife's Can Am Spyder
Choice ? Because we can ? Because the brand plus 100's of aftermarket suppliers enable our freedom to do it ? Modifying, upgrading, personalizing, customizing,,, whatever you call it, is part of the HD experience for many. Changes from stock can be accomplished, in varying degree, by any owner, regardless of initial expertise. What you can't do yourself you can hire done in virtually endless variety. No other brand allows for this to the degree HD does. One of the obvious choices is; "none of the above" .

Its really only "Hive Thinkers" projecting onto others, who accuse HD buyers of Hive Think. Its not about going "our way", its about going "our own way". A Hiver will be blind to the difference, but its big.

Now who's being defensive ?

What a we-todd-did question. Is it winter already?

Why buy an expensive toy when you can't play with it. I like "tinkering" & it's my stress relief. After a hard day in the shop, nothing better than either (1) tooling off on a theraputic venture, or (2) tooling on the bike. Tooling on the wifey's a close third...

Interesting question - but my bet is - you are the only one with a 100% stock Harley.

I purchased a 2014 Ultra Limited - added things like speaker grills, saddlebag guards, backrest, saddlebag lights, chrome covers for the passengers foot boards and some other things. I did not touch the engine.

The bike has enough power for me - but to respond to your question - the bike is no longer completely stock. Is your's?

For $2000 you too can have 100hp and say 110 to 115tq, that's including exhaust. For the $5000 you suggest it should be more like 135hp and 140tq.

I 100% agree with every word you said. Yes, I'm another "keeping it stock" guy and I love mine just the way it is. It's not a crotch rocket and never could be made into one. That's not what I wanted and not what I got.

Folks who pour money into these 900+ lb. behemoths thinking they're gonna make 'em lightening-fast "racing bikes" are livin' in Fantasy Land. These are the people that the MOCO woos and worships the most!

And even after all that, you'd still have a lumbering, overweight pig compared to an actual race-type bike, so why waste your money?

Ever do a home improvement without thinking it transformed your place into a castle ? Better you let me do my own thinking bro.

Ever spend your money on something you wanted, even though other folks claimed they wouldn't want it ? Better you allow me to spend my own money bro.

Ever been a Hiver ?

Yeah, you've got your 150HP - 150MPH bikes out there...

But nothing speaks to the soul like a Harley Davidson!!

Respect...Some got it, some don't.

My Harley is a stress reliever. If I am riding one of them or changing the oil or just tinkering with the looks a little, I feel good and that's what it's all about to me.
