Put some new style Fairing Factory lowers on. What sucks is right after I bought these I saw they started offering new style ones with speaker pods. So now I am thinking I may have to buy them and sell these. These were $218, the speaker pod ones are $220. Hardware was pretty decent I thought, although it only came with two washers. I added a flat washer from my parts bin. Thickness seems pretty good too at 4mm. I don't know how thick OEM ones are, but these are pretty solid. These also come pre-assembled, and have the vent levers. You can also take out the covers for those really hot summer days. Others I've seen don't. I am pretty happy with these other than they aren't the speaker pod ones. These new style are all setup to fit either SG or RG as the caps have the shorter section where it mounts to the top of the engine guard and have push button doors. Anyway, here's some pics...

Where did you get them, FF usually comes with both speaker pods and doors.
What piece are you referring to that comes out??

The older (pre-2014) version comes with both...not the "new" style (2014+) like these. I am talking about the covers that you can see with the two bolts and the front outside cover. They have a different style of the newer fairing that has a screen there. These are the updated version of the "new" style.

Well I scored a set of painted speaker pods for $71 off eBay for the new style lowers that I just got. Wish I would have ordered a day or two later...You can get the complete new style with speaker pods painted for $220 on eBay. My haste cost me about $70 But looking forward to them nonetheless!

This is why I love this site; finally found the answer... if my 09+ vented lower fairings would fit on my new 16 RGS.

Thanks guys; Ride safe!

I decided to go with the factory lowers for my 15 FTLRX. I have a set on order in Mysterious Red Sunglo. I will post a pic of them when they come in.

If nothing else they will sure save the shins this summer. The dragonflies up here get rather large to say the least. They hurt like a mother when they hit. You would swear it was a rock that hit ya.

Read through the thread, just ordered a pair for my Street Glide. Anybody change out the doors to the factory closures?

Default Problems with factory lowers

I put the factory lowers on my Road glide Special this Winter. Shortly after the glove box door on the left side started falling off. I dismantled the lower to find both hinge pins, pin keepers and spring had come off. One pin and both keepers were gone. I reinstalled the remaining pin with the spring and drilled the pin for a cotter key. I drilled a 10/24 bolt for a cotter key and used it in place of the lost pin. The door won't fall off now. I don't know if the keepers fell off or if they were even installed from the factory.

This morning when cleaning the bike I noticed one of the plastic plates looked warped and was loose. You remove it by prying off with a screwdriver. I found it is too narrow and the plastic clips that hold it on the fairing don't fit tight. I am contemplating using some double stick tape to help hold it on until I can get a new one. It is either too narrow or the opening in the lower is too wide. The plate on the other lower fits nice and tight. Other than these issues I love the fairings. Especially the ability to open and close vents with the slide of a lever.
