Looks like most of you are located where there aren't any canyon or mountain roads. If you travel on those kind of roads, then you WILL lose reception, I don't care where the antenna is mounted. Basically line of sight. Just the nature of how satellite radio operates.

You are correct that when I get to mountains and canyons, the reception can get sketchy. It also goes out with heavily tree-lined roads, or when right next to tall buildings in cities. Been living with that reality for quite a few years now.

But, there's so many miles in between here and any real canyons or mountains that those moments of dropped signal are a mere trifle. There's always a USB stick loaded up, as well as the regular radio to fill in the gaps.

When you have to cross states like Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, Wyoming, South Dakota, etc... then it becomes a non-issue--reception, that is. When I finally get to the mountains, then the music might get shut off anyways...

All the best,

Shane

Pretty much everything to answer your question.
Way not worth the cost with all the alternative ways to get music ect these days. I have it in my truck and on my bike and have never even though about paying for the service. After the free trial it has never been missed and I would have to pay for each vehicle, what's up with that? I have it as part of my dish network and it's more repetitive then the local FM

Most of the issues are with the poor quality of the module. The buffer is horrendous. Something like 1 second! They cheaped out or rushed it to production. I bought mine 2 years ago in June and activated my 3 months. They asked for a CC so I would have "Un interrupted enjoyment when the trial was over in September 2014, but I said I would call if I was keeping it. Well almost 2 years later, it is still on with the whole package and services. My guess is someone hit the wrong button when they activated it.
I still use my phone mostly which has Pandora, Apple Music and about 300 songs so I'm covered everywhere.
Northeast Pa has terrible reception everywhere.

See, I have the exact opposite opinion. I've had it since 2005, and couldn't imagine NOT having it. I happily pay for the subscription.

Although I do call to "cancel" every year at renewal time.
That way, they transfer you to a retention specialist and you can get a better rate.

Also for those saying to just stream music from your phone.
Remember there are still some areas in the country without Cell Phone coverage. It seems the best riding is done is those areas.

I've renewed it the second time, 29 dollars for 6 months, it works well in an open area but roads with a lot of trees the signal goes in and out. My other vehicles don't have an issue in the same area. So the receiver and or antenna is not up to par with the cars or truck. Nice option that came with the bike, but in my area, i wouldn't purchase because of the reception issues. IPOD, IPHONE, and my older IPHONE 4S just for music all work well.

I agree, I have 3 current subscriptions it seems like forever. I have a new XM module for the Limited waiting for me when I get home next week. I'll put it in and call them, get my 3 months and negotiate, I'm happy at $100 per year per subscription, I'm sure I'll get the same or better for the bike. At this point in life another $100 doesn't make a difference...I'm on a road trip right now (cage) and use the XM every day, better then searching for a station every time the signals fade. JMHO of course!

Does anyone have advice on where to purchase the XM module for a 2016 Limited other than HD for $400?
