I'm sure that conclusion is reached after reviewing internal Harley warranty rates per part number, dealer warranty rates, customer service calls per year/model. Or, just believing everything on internet forums and thinking it's widespread in the noninternet riding group. You know the ones who ride more and type less . It's all about perspective.

i am not just drawing a conclusion here. i've witnessed many wheel bearing failures along with bad compensators. cam chain shoes wearing out long before they should, although this has gotten better over the years. HD has had recurring problems for years and has done nothing about them. the gas cap thing went on for almost three years. the saddle bags falling off is still going on ( a friend just lost his last friday). a recall on the recall is what they are working on now. the updates for the boom system is a joke. i've had maindrive gear bearing problems on a couple of bikes and so have friends of mine. no reason for netrual rattle going on. these are not made up stories out there, this is happening. all i'm saying is Harley could do much better with their quality control and maybe find some vendors that are interested in building better parts.

I've never had a problem with the water pump, BUT to be on the safe side. I have a long trip coming up, and has anyone come up with a quick fix to keep a trip from going in the *******, i.e. a small aftermarket electric pump, with x amount of clamps and tools that can be put in place of the stock pump as a temporary repair.

Update to Post #47
I got my bike back on Saturday. It was at the dealer for about 2 1/2 weeks (of course it couldn't break during the colder months when the dealer wasn't so busy). They repaired the wiring at the fuse block for the cooling relay, and replaced the relay. That got the fans to work again. Then they found that the water pump wasn't always working so they installed a new water pump. They either had one in stock or they were able to get one quickly because it was installed within 2 days.
I only have about 250 miles on it since the fix but all seems good.
