New battery for my 14 SGS
Well i was developing an interesting issue with my 14 SGS on start up. For about the last 6 months the bike was slow to turn over on start up and would give me a "VIN ERROR" message. Initially thought the battery was going out but it would take a charge (i keep it on a battery tender) and past experience has taught me that when a battery dies it usually just dies.
I was starting to worry about the starter or possibly the compensator.
We finally decide to just buy a new battery as this was the original and is 4 years old.
Battery Mart.com had the Mega Crank MTX-30L 420CC on sale for $89.95 and free shipping. I could not touch that price locally.
Turns out it was the battery as the bike turns over much better/faster and no "VIN ERROR" message.
For the price and 2 day free shipping to the door i don't think you can find a better option.
Just thought i would let everyone know my experience.
Ride on, Jim

Its been said many times ,,, a failing battery can ,and will except a charge,,, This is when people say , but my battery shows 12.7 volts at the terminals.... But its CCA , (ie, underload that is the main game)....
A simple test, other than going to a battery shop for a load test is , See Pic ...
And you can test to see if your voltage Reg is operating properly ...
People hang on to failing batteries for to long , (hard starts,, strange electronic problems, etc,)... Then components like , compensator and starter clutch have more stress put on them , and the cycle begins with question , like , whats wrong with my bike etc .....
To the OP ,,, Good to see you got a good price on the new battery ,,, Happy Trails ......

I went with this battery for my Honda Fury before I had the 2015 RG. This battery has the same OUTPUT as the battery that they recommend for our Harley's. The Casing is the only thing that is different, the internals are the same. The case on the 36C is smaller... which is nice if you ever decide to add air ride or something like that down the road. My battery box has a ton of room in it now. I did use foam to keep the battery from bouncing around.
It is pricey but ive had it for going on 3 years now. Made a world of difference on the Honda, and Ive had no complaints on the Harley. Winter starts are also not and issue. I have the recommended tender on the site FYI. Battery tender brand will work but doesnt have the reset feature that the one they recommend has.
