I have a 2013 Road King Classic and after having severe wobble due to under inflated tires everything seemed fine. Recently I get a slight wobble effect on the bars at between 30 and 40 mph but it is not detectable at higher or lower speeds. Holding the bars normally does not allow the wobble but you can feel the vibration. Release the grip slghtly and the bars oscillate but not violently. Any ideas what may be causing this? Does wheel balancing play a role in this?
I would say check your steering head bearings and if your front tire is cupped. For me it was the steering head bearings that led to the front tire being cupped...but I could only detect in certain small curves.
I have had this problem in the past and after spending huge time trying to isolate the problem, rebalancing, dyno-beads, neck bearings, etc etc . Finally changed the front tire and the problem disappeared.
I had the same symptoms on my 2015 Ultra with 5,000 miles on it. It was under warranty, so the shop futzed with the neck bearings several times. Didn't help. Put on a new front tire and "POOF!" The wobble went away and hasn't come back in 45,000 miles.
I have had the same problem twice, only at slightly different speed ranges. First time was on a Gold Wing, 2nd time was on an FLHTK. Changing the loading of the bike affected it a little bit but at the end of the day both bikes were cured with tire changes. I always change as a set so I don't know if just a front would have fixed it.
I had the front end wobble on decelerate from 40 to 30 Mph and had it resolved when I replaced the front tire which was cupped and found the bearings which were bad. This was on my 2014 ultra limited with 15K on the clock.
I am in the front tire Camp to I had a same situation. However it was on a different bike on a wide glide our problem was a front tire. The same symptoms like you described.
Just as an add.... I had high speed wobble on my 2015 Road Glide after putting a 21 and new tire on it. Did neck bearing adjustment and problem solved.
