I did this to my 2015 Limited. I thought it would look cool and the bike definitely feels a little light without the TourPak. Haven't taken the thing off in the last two years. Even around town it's just to handy to be able to stow my helmet, stop and pick up a bag or two of groceries, etc... I just leave it on now.
Here's a tip: When putting the tour pak back on, put a shop cloth or something on the fender next to the docking points. It's real easy to miss and hit the fender and damage the pair. It a little awkward and heavier than it looks. I actually jack my bike up to the jacks highest setting to put mine on. Less stress on the old back

licence plate mod
I took my hand and bent the tin mount back to give it the lay down look.
it looks great and you can still see it just fine with tourpack on .
best of all no cost

I'll be removing my tourpak tomorrow when I do my oil service. Probably leave it off till jacket season rears it's ugly head mid October. What I rigged up a few years ago is a heavy duty pulley system bolted to my ceiling rafters. I have a cross hair drawn on the floor, get the bike upright and it takes less then a minute to lift or lower the tourpak. I wasn't thrilled about the license plate bracket in the relocation kit so with 2 pieces of 6" aluminum stock and two LED bullet lights I made a mudflap plate. The antenna is on a bracket lower left.
The bike handles better not being top heavy.

Pros: Looks better when riding solo.
Pros per Wife: Keeps ***** off the back.
Cons: Keeps ***** away ☺
I moved my antenna to the frame rail under the seat; hidden. Not great reception but I use ipod interface mostly. I pieced together my own kit aftermarket and improved the plate location and lights look using laydown lense and softbrake plate relocation and smoked lenses.
I have 5 configurations based on mood, distance and wife joining:
Solo; Mustang solo no backrest
Semi Dressed; HD Hammock seat and passenger backrest/rack
Semi Dressed Enhanced; above and rider backrest
Fully Dressed; Tour Pak
Fully Dressed Enhanced; above and rider backrest
All that said, 75% of time its setup solo.

Although my Rig didn't come with a tourpak, I built one out for the "Back Seat Boss" & when touring.
If I may suggest, I had a 18pin plug (IIRC) custom made for a single plug disconnect for the Tourpak. Speakers pods, Wrap-around R-B-T LED tail lights, Airwing R-B LED light, and room for Aux. Plug inside Tourpak.
Easy Peezey!
