Default GPS wiring point in Nacelle in 2019 RK

I'm trying to wire up a GPS to a point in the Nacelle. I found a Molex LP4 that was unused, ( same as a computer power supply HD connection ( old style). 12.4 volts on it. I routed the wires, connected the pins, etc, etc. But when ignition turned on, the voltage goes down from 12.4 to 3.6 and never powers the GPS. So, I need to find another place. I'm not really wanting to run it back under the seat.

Any ideas?

Tom

I also have a 2019 Road King that I wanted to add some electrical accessories to, after doing some research your safest and neatest thing to do is purchase the accessory harness that HD offers. I know you don't want to run it back under the seat but most of the systems on these new bikes run through the CAN system and voltage and amperage is an issue .I would think that you could get enough amperage tapping off the headlight supply but in my case I didn't want to hack up the wiring. The accessory plug allows you to three access points under the seat and right side cover area with 12v switched and constant 12v power off the battery with fused protection. I ran power for a satellite radio, and USB power points with the plug. Ran a nice harness under the tank up to the neck for power up to the windshield area.
Good luck

Can you expand on this a bit? Not sure I understand which plug you are using.

After talking to my dealer, I found a blueish connector which goes to a position light used internationally, but not here. I cut off the connector and spliced in my wires. So far, so good. FYI, it is attached to the headlamp connected and pulled back and cinched with a cable tie.

I'm not sure about the newer models (14 and up ) but on the 09-13 like mine there is a set of wires about 6'' back from the headlight plug. An orange wire with a white stripe and a black wire , both have blade connectors already on them. These are a switched power supply, headlight on=power, headlight off=no juice. Lots of us use these for charging phones, gps or GoPros and those hideous led rings around the headlight....

Thanks for the comments, Hammerhead. Good to know for many, but my 19 is different.

FYI, the plug I mentioned has a blue and a black wire. It matches the Harley prints, and seems to work perfectly with ignition.

Thanks all for the help.

ok tom, after i took off the head light,I tried the white plug i see in your picture. That did not work, The 2 wire plug that was behind/beside the white plug, that was the one that i used, 12v power and ground. The plug looks like it comes off the headlight bundle of wires. The plug that stood alone on the clutch side of the headlight housing did not have power. My parts guy said that the housing is where they go to save money for us (frugal) riders. If you find and use that connection and find out what circuit and fuse it is on, please pass that on. thanks and good luck

Yes, that white plug goes to a cooling fan. It drops to 3 volts and then get activated by the computer to run the cooling fan when the engine reaches a certain temp.

The one you used is the one I used, the blue and black wired position light, which is used internationally.

Here is a picture of the wiring diagram. I wrote the notes in it.
