Default Frustrated!!!!

Trying to replace the Engine temp sensor on my '19 FLHTK. I can't seem to get a wrench in there. Any clues? I popped the Push rod clip to get the sleeve out of the way, but nope. Also removed the throttle body for access and was able to get the old one out, but can't get a wrench in to snug the new one down.

Wouldn't it be easier to take the horn and bracket off and get to it from that side?

No access. That's the wrong side of the motor.

Yeah, the M8 temp sensor is in a different location than the Twin Cam temp sensor.... The Twin Cam temp sensors are on the rear of the front cylinder, horn side. Real easy to get to if you remove the horn. It can be removed with the horn in place, but seems it would be more of a hassle than just dropping the horn.

I don't own nor have I worked on an M8... but on a friend's M8, I believe the temp sensor is on the front of the rear cylinder, air cleaner side....however, I have never looked close enough to determine how I would remove it..

OP, just a wild guess, have you removed the air filter?

I know in the past I have worked harder to get around parts for access, that are easier and faster to remove for access..... kind of like removing the horn to get to the Twin Cam temp sensor...

Let us know how you end up getting to it...

Probably gonna have to cut a 1/2” deep socket with a window like an 02 sensor socket.

You reckon this is going to solve the issues you posted about in your other thread?

That's what I would do....

if you have good sockets, just go to an auto parts store and buy a cheap, deep socket to cut up...

Thanks for the pic.

Let us know how this works out...

All depends on your reason for removal. If you're replacing the sensor, cut the wires off and use a socket to remove the sensor. Install with an open end wrench, I'm sure you can get it tight enough.

I would make a socket for that. Then throw in the tool box and i have it when i need to do it again. Many custom tools over the years.
