LED with halo wiring troubles

1 Attachment(s)
Ok, I bought an LED with a halo ring off of Ebay to replace my broke harley one. I bought an adaptor so it's just plug and play and it came right on. My issue is I can't figure out how to wire the halo ring portion of it up. The wiring off the light has the plug and two wires. The one that is marked drl (daylight running light) is the one I've been messing with. I can get the halo to come on for just a split second if I hold it to the blue wire on the wiring harness but it won't stay on. Any ideas, I'm definitely not an electricianand there were no instructions.

Should be able to find a 12v switched to tap into. Such as the cig lighter plug. That way it will come on with power. Should be able to get positions at pep boys or something.

Shouldn't there be two wires for the halo to work? How would I wire up just one wire?

Not Rocket Science; pretty easy mod. ...

You say: "The wiring off the light has the plug and two wires."

Without seeing what you're talking about; I would guess the "plug" goes to the main LED headlamp and the "two wires" are for the "Halo".
What I did was splice into the Positive and Ground leads to the cigar lighter (assuming you have one) for the two Halo wires. The current draw for LED's is minimal, as is cigar lighter usage, so I don't see a problem with overloading the circuit, plus the circuit goes live when you turn on the ignition. I hope this helps.

I have a Vision X Led headlight w/DRL on my 14 SGS. I took the DRL wire and ran it to a on/off toggle switch and ran that to a constant on, that way I can run it when I want. Nice touch if you want to leave it going after dark for a bit when your parked somewhere for the cool factor.

The plug in connector should have a ground on it so it's already grounded . If you run a toggle switch you can run a ground wire off of it, but its not really needed.

bkgabby, I understand the DRL wire but what do they say the Turn light wire is for? Does the light also have turn signals in it?

I can't see anything out of the ordinary that would make it act as a turn signal...lol...like I said there were no instructions. I have not yet ridden it at night, but it seems to be very bright and the low beam stays on with the high beam. It's gonna be cool when I figure out the halo. For a $100 it was worth a try over the $500 harley version.

do some night riding so we can see if its bright

Along w/your stock HL connector, there should be a black/ground and orange/orange-white power. Guessing, by the looks of your pic, the red is power (connects to orange) and the other (blue???) ground to black...

Good luck...sorry, but buying cheap fm fleaBay sometimes doesn't fare well...IMO. What kind of warranty does this part offer? Most of the reputable vendors have "lifetime" warranty so paying a little extra covers you for the duration. Food for thought - good luck.
