I have another data point for what I call the "fogging speedometer". My 2018 FLCHS speedometer began to fog/condense. I naturally assumed it had gotten moisture inside from rain or washing. After much frustration, my HD dealer got HD to replace it for me....thx guys.....and now the new one is replicating the scenario. Here's the data point.....never been in the rain, and the only time it was washed, I did it, I taped the speedometer around the housing and avoided it like the plague.

I have 2 theories....one I have developed and one the HD dealer has developed:

Mine: some lubricant/glue/sealant inside the speedometer is being vaporized when operated in much sunlight on hot days.

Their's: Could be gasoline vapors making their way into the speedometer.

I was intrigued by theirs but honestly can not figure out how that is possible.

Anyone have an alternative theory or an opinion on the 2 above?

Obviously I could continue to replace the speedometer but it will continue to happen.

I have the foggy speedo on both my 2008 Dyna and now the new Heritage. Did notice it after a heavy rain so think there is a small opening. I think I read way back that they do this to let pressure equalize.

My speedo fogs up when it's sunny, it's annoying that it's at the bottom end and clouds over all the readouts.

I've had this fogging issue on my Sportsters, Dynas, and now my new Softail Heritage. I'm thinking it may have something to do with humidity, direct sunlight and higher temperatures. Like uklauren stated always at the bottom so you have a hard time reading the digital information.
Cheers

No fogging for me, but less humidity here. My ride usually starts at about 45 - 65 degrees (can be wet too in the morning) and ends up between 70 and 100 degrees thirty miles later depending on time of year.

I need to raise my bars and get them a tad closer. My hands are going numb 10 minutes into my rides. I was looking at what HD offers and it seems there is only a 4" curved and straight version.4" might be a bit long, but has anyone installed them on a 2018 Heritage? Were new cables involved or can they be used with the stock ones?

I have done it. It was damn expensive $900ish - new cables were necessary- stocks are too tight. But I LOVE it!!! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...e93f5d23a.jpeg

A 4 inch rise is probably a bit much for me. I’d be happy with just a 2 inch additional rise. I might have to go after market.

BTW, what is the rise of the stock clamps? If they are 1-1/2" already, are the 4" risers a net 2-1/2" increase?

Took my heritage in for a 5k service Tuesday, didn't have any problems till I picked it up, engine light came on and started throwing ecm code 1510 on the way home.

Took it back Wednesday morning turns out the twist grip sensor has failed, this is a new part for the 2018's and no dealer in the US has one.

my dealer ordered one from the factory and it came up as a back order.

Supposed to leave on a 2500 mile trip tommorow :(

Dealer found one after calling tech services but it wont be here till tommorow afternoon.

looks like I will be playing catch up to meet up with my brothers :(
