new here 114 fat bob and brake question
 

Hi all. my name is Janne and i am located in sweden. have a 19 114 fat bob. yesterday i put 13” la choppers kagefighter bars on my bike, had to put longer brakeline on, do i have to go to the dealer to blead the brakes? it is abs. have a vaccum bleeder and have run a bottle of fluid trough the system and hand bleed it. can i start the bike and go to the dealer or will the abs pump break if it is air still in the system?

I used a vacuum bleeder after doing a bar change on my 13 FLS with ABS and had no issues.

You can bleed it with the vacuum bleeder like on a regulary bike without ABS, just leave the ignition off when doing this.

thanks guys. i am so happy now. did the bleeding and it worked. totally diffrent bike now with the new bars.

What vacuum bleeder did you use? I've had a Mityvac hand pump vacuum bleeder and had issues with the fittings not sealing on the nipple in the past.

What did you use and how did you get the fittings/hoses to seal on the nipple to successfully bleed the brakes and not allow air back in?

Also can you briefly explain the bleeding process you used? Were you simply just using the vacuum bleeder or do you need to do a combination and pump the brake lever then hold it down and open the bleeder valve then pump the vacuum bleeder?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I just want to make sure I know how this is done since I've never had ABS on my bikes before.

I'm doing this with a vacuum bleeder pretty much the same as pictured, no need for to touch the brake lever in this process. Keep in mind that you just bleed
the line and not the fluid in the ABS pump itself. I do both rear and front at the same time to get the most out of it but this procedure is only good for changing
the brakeline ( longer / shorter ) and not exactly for doing a brakefluid change.

the vaccum bleeder i used is a cheap one that i hook up to a compressor. i bleed it trough with combination of pumping the brakes. i left it over night with a cabletie with the lever pushed in and then continued with only vaccum. i will never do this again i will do a reverse bleed if i need to change a line. that way the air never gets to the abs.
