I just ordered the 4250 yesterday...about 2 weeks for delivery. They gave me $100 off the $899 price...introductory special...forum discount would have been $90! One thing I didn't expect was no sales tax. I'll finally have an amp with gains for the front end!

Just received my new 4250, I'll be installing it in the next day or so! One thing I didn't expect... it has 4 gain control ***** right next to each RCA inputs for the 4 channels, I will have to contact BT tomorrow and talk to Mike about the gains! No 4250 instruction manual just a 4180 manual! Its a nice piece of hardware, signed like the 4180 by the BT artisans that built it!

Finally got the 4250 up and running, my KW 998 took a sh*t ,while I was installing this amp! I put a Pioneer DEH 80 prs in (thanks to Gan's recommendation} and took a little bit to learn the HU and set the gains on the 4250. It took a while to get up to speed on the HU, and tune the system. I was a little surprised how far I could turn the gains up without blowing the speakers off the bike! One reason was the DEH volume goes up 62 clicks, so when I set the gains at 45, I have the gains cranked up pretty far (don't do voltage, by ear}! Wow this amp sounds just like the 4180, with more power, speakers hit harder (mid bass)! I tried a lot of different Rock, the Hu unit is playing between 38 and 45 clicks on the HU,,,needs more tuning, but the 4250 woke up the 89db sensitivity Legatis in the fairing and the DD VO 6.5 in the lowers are LOUD, with great mid bass punch for a 6.5! Am I happy YES I AM!! I would recommend this amp to anyone wanting a clean, detailed, powerful amp!

A little more info on this amp! I was surprised how high I could turn up the gains on this amp without blowing the speakers off the bike! Rufnek also put one in and was having a hard time setting it up using a regular DVM. He called BT and talked to Mike, mike told him he ships the amps with gains cranked WFO...HUH. He said he sets them up with the HD HU and they're all the same. I'm pretty sure my gains were also WFO. and I turned them down when I started tuning, ended up, running the my gains very close to WFO. Most amps that I have used throughout my audio life, the gains set closer to 11 o'clock to say 1 o'clock, I'm sure Mike has set this amp up with some kind of buffer built in to allow it to be run with the gains turned up, and not blow sh*t up! Its a quality amp but has the BT quirkiness... with the spring terminals and being able to turn gains up, I mean way up. I am going to call BT and talk to Mike, I have the Pioneer DEH with 5 volt RCA outputs and can still crank this beaoch.. WFO...lol

How’s the sound compared to others in regards to warmth? Did you get the flat version without filters?

Sounds just like the 4180, with more power, clean, detailed and very neutral sounding, (flat frequency response) which to me means it sounds exactly how the music was produced to sound without extra "color" (the increasing or decreasing of sound pressure level on certain frequencies...ie X-tra treble or bass that wasn't suppose to be there}! Some times low level distortion can be confused with being warm sounding, as described in one of the links Haze posted to describe the different sounds of amps! Having a neutral sounding amp is good IMO, using the EQ and your choice of speakers to help shape the sound you want...Clean, detailed and powerful is how I would describe it...hope this helps! added...I did not ask for the version without the filter so I assume I have the 45 HZ HP filter!

Hey Mike how does that amp treat the FM signal? Sometime in the future I may swap things around to try to regain some of the reception I lost, but where I live there ain't much in the way of radio stations anyhow (there is only one full power FM station within 50 miles of where I live).

Also how do you think that amp would fit with the stock HK pre-Rushmore head unit? Do you think it sticks out as far as the SoundStream PN4.1000d?

Thanks
