Seriously, as these guys have said....for a grand you can get an awesome upgraded set of speakers and amp installed and not worry about blowing speakers again.
Hi All No I did not say happy with HD speakers. I'm looking to replace them. Don't think I need an Amp is what I said as I could hear the Stage 1's doing 110 MPH.

I'm looking at some Sinister Sound and Biketronics speakers now.

I'll be at Little Sturgis in 11 days so wanted so recommendations before I get there. I know Sinister Sound will be there.

If you're wanting to keep your Boom amp and just replace speakers, you're stuck with 2ohm speakers and a 75w amp.

In my not so humble opinion, if you're gonna divorce the Boom speakers, make a clean break from the Boom relationship. Trade up to relationship thats half her age and twice as hot. (Stolen from Kid Rock)

Not sure how long you will be in Sturgis, but I role in August 3rd and will be happy to show you what my system sounds like.
Your current boom audio amp just won't play nice with most speakers available.
I know you are reluctant to replace it, but your old speakers were probably blowing up because you were trying to push them and that boom amp beyond their real world capabilities. You will not regret getting rid of that Boom amp.
Nobody hear has a horse in this race other than their pride and experience.
They will not just help you pick upgrades to your system, they will happily help you upgrade to the best possible system within your budget. You will most likely not find any recommendations for Boom Audio, Sinister, or J&M.
These guys want you to be happy with your system and have the experience to back it up.
I don't have the experience most of these guys have, but I have learnt to trust them over the last 3 years. They will probably recommend stuff you have never even heard of, but believe me, they know their stuff.
My first $500 speaker and amp upgrade kicked *** over my J&M stuff I reluctantly pulled out, and was way better than all my buddies boom audio.
Your $1000 budget could be a mediocre J&M or Sinister system, or it could be awesome. Let these guys recommend stuff to make it awesome.

Others with more experience than me will probably chime in, but here is my recommendation.

Yank that Boom amp and sell it. Thank us all latter.
Replace it with a Stinger SPX 700 - 4 x 125 watts.
Fairing speakers - DB Moto WDX6 G2s x 6.5"
Speaker lids - Mmats PA 690.cx or WDX 69's
Line level converter BT 355 from Biketronics.

All within in your budget, and you will be rocking well beyond your current system.

Sound Warz is Wednesday Aug 7th at the Beaver Bar in Sturgis if you want to see what gets the job done. No Boom Audio or J&M here, lol.

Good luck on your quest.

Hi thanks all for your input.

I'm actually going to Little Sturgis now called Kentucky Bike Rally not Sturgis SD. Been out there 5 times in last 25 years and love it though.
