Default Older bike, Newer radio

I have read most of the discussions on this topic but haven't seen the answer that I have been looking for. My friend just bought a 2001 Electra Glide Classic with a radio sound (76164-98) am/fm/cassette. I have a radio sound out of a 2003 EGC, (76164-03) am/fm/cd. I would like to give it to him as an upgrade they are both 23 pins on the head set but the plug, connector on his bike(2001) is different. My question is: do they make an adaptor to make this work? Some post say that it is plug and play but this is not the case as the connector off of the 2001 EGC is different.

I'm pretty sure the reasoning behind the different plugs is the 01 I think has switches on the tank that the 03 doesn't have for CB and Intercom. My understanding is the radio/cd will work fine however if you want the CB and Intercom to work you will have to do some wiring modifications for that. As for the plug itself, give Radio Sound a call and they should be able to help you figure that out very quickly.
