Default Spike A/C jetting issues

Tried reading previous threads on this, but they seemed to get sidetracked w/o solving the problem,so here goes.My neighbor and I put a Spike a/c on his 2005 Softail, and start to jet it.He's got the Thunderslide kit from Dynojet, and that goes in as well(on previous advice from Harley?).They recommend a stock pilot(45?),and 185 main with his intake/pipe combo, needle in the 4th clip.Runs like crap-starving on top. Now,we're at 5500ft....call Dynojet and dude says "175 main, drop needle to the 3rd clip.Makes sense at elevation.......but doesn't work.Is even worse.Tried all sorts of different remedies, long story short-had to go to a 205 main, needle back to the 4th clip...could still go bigger on the main.Only flattening out a little at WOT now.Does this even make sense at this elevation?Do these things flow THAT MUCH air?Any ideas?
