Super E rebuild
#2
I've rebuilt my S&S shorty 3 times...There are a couple of small ball bearings and a small spring you need to be aware of. Also the gasket between the bowl and the throat needs to be perfect. The only other item is the diaphram on the accelerator pump. Take your time and you can do it. You can clean all the parts while they are out as well.
I bought my rebuilt kit(s) from J&P but I'm sure they are easy to find anywhere.
Here are some video's that helped me.

Unless throttle shaft play is excessive, I don't disturb them. Just because a part is in a kit doesn't mean ya need to use it and it takes MANY miles to damage shaft/bushing contact area.
OTOH shaft, butterfly and bushing jobs can be fiddly and are easy for noobs to mess up.
I've never had to bush an S&S of any type and couldn't even find a worn, stripped body at swap meets to do one for my own amusement! I have the parts and a milling machine so I figured why not? My Super B had over 100K miles before I went to an E and it's fine. (If I could get good ethanol resistant Bendix accelerator pumps and rubber boots for my pump kit I'd still be running it.)
