twin dual throat weber dcoe

been running a set of twin dual throat weber dcoe carbs on my 113" evo. i had a series of unfortunate events unfold on me in the last few days, and now i'm looking for replacement parts. i have spent the day on the phone with different retail vendors with no luck. it seems that all the dealers have dried up and no one is carrying these kits anymore. aside from fabricating and chroming a new one myself, does anyone know where i might be able to buy just the intake manifold for the left side/rear cylinder?

You're on rare territory with that query! If you use search above you will find only 15 threads on HDF that refer to DCOEs. So I fear you won't get a reply here.

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF.

You've posted in a 6 year old thread! There were no helpful replies back then, so your prospects of success are not very good today I'm afraid. Check the HDF Classifieds and try posting a Wanted Ad there, as well as following Ripsaw's suggestions of Ebay and Craigs websites. As a new member you may have to post a few times before you get access to the Ads section. Good luck!

The old dual S&S manifold works if I remember correctly but any of this stuff is going to be like finding a 30 yr old virgin in a whore house, good luck.

Here you go... They fit fine... but I am struggling to get consistent guidance on the details for initial tuning/set-up on them....
All comments (other than "BUY A FREAKING S&S E YOU F&$#-ING IDIOT) are welcome...

I know the trick is to dial each of them in for the displacement of the engine and then shut off one of the two barrels of each of the DCOE's (i.e. run only one barrel of each carb)....That HAS been consistent guidance. But how to set them up has not. It is a 104" Twin Cam so ideal main venturi is 36mm ( for a 1704cc engine generating peak HP at 5300 RPM). But I am not running 5300 RPM on a constant basis, so I am GUESSING that 34 mm at an average RPM of 3500 is more in line with the street driving the bike will be doing. There is no set up chart that has a 3500 RPM curve and I cannot find the math they are using to set up the curves shown in the popular tuning books. Options for emulsion tubes, main jets, idle jets, etc get WIDELY varied from available data on the web and the top tuning books don't help a lot in this area.

So....To the folks who have run this set up in the past.... I know that there will be some dialing in to get to a final set up. I plan on putting the bike on a dyno to tune it using a lambda (O2) sensor to measure air/ fuel ratio at different rpm’s to find the sweet spot. But what does your experience suggest for an initial configuration on jets and other variable components? All constructive comments welcome

You are essentially trying to make 2 older carbs that were a problem on a good day brand new designed to run a small block V-8 engine individually work one per cylinder on a long stroke V twin engine with real crappy vacuum characteristics which those carbs need to balance. We couldn't make them work back in day and unless somebody's waved a magic wand at them you are just doubling the headache. Good luck and I hope you like pain cause there'll be a few times during this little adventure you've set yourself on that you want badly to bang your head against a wall.

One of those is overkill and you want to try to run 2 ???

PS you can't get " consistent " guidance because nobody ever figured out how to make them work correctly , most were happy just to get them to run.
