I've found there are people who like the fender and some don't, I figured I'd use it because the bike came with it and I am partial to that style. It gives the rear a little shape and hides the tail light from the side view. If I grow tired of it I can always switch to something else later.

Thanks for sharing your point of view though.

I like the bobtail. I'm a big fan of those type fenders. I'd put one on mine if I didn't already have pinstriping on mine.

Nice write-up and pics. As far as the fender and other suggestions - do what your own eye wants. You have a great one-of-a-kind build going here.

Look forward to further updates and finished product.

**** man, build is commin right along (sinse this is the first time i saw this thread ) where ya hiddin the battery box?

can't believe how weel ya polished up those rockers and primary and cam cover...sheeeesh!!

what the hell do you do for a living where you can get all that cool stuff?

if ya havn't figured out the rear fender yet, i would cut it down the middle, take whatever needs to be taken out to fit the tire bettter. i also might flip it around, JMO but i don't like the bob tailed look to much. weld it back together and maybe put a small ridge in the middle of the fender to flow with the 2 piece tanke and all. just some thoughts, great work, i'll be watchin this one on hear and over on the other forum

The battery box is located right in front of the rear tire sitting in the lower frame area.

I work at a custom metal fab shop doing welding and fabrication. Been doing that for 16 years and I love my job.

I kinda like the idea of having a ridge down the middle of the fender or maybe doing something like Mudpuddle did with his fender on the Mudsickle. I'm going to hold off on a few things till I get it together and running before I get too extravagant. Even when I say it's finished it won't be.

Thanks for the compliments and I also look forward to seeing it completed.

Great post/pics, looks like the build is going well... I am anxious to see the final product.

You stated you found a few good DIY wiring diagrams online, do you mind sharing your sources?

Great work and progress man. Something like this takes fortitude that alot of us don't have. My projects usually take forever to get done because I always have so much other crap going on. I can't wait to see the finished project. BTW, that bobbed fender will look just right-you just gotta get the positioning of it perfect.

Yellow ........................ Alternator to rectifier/regulator.
White ......................... fuse to lights sw.
White with blue tracer......... lights sw to high/low sw.
Black.......................... earth connections to frame.

The following wires can be reduced to 14 / 0.30 , 1.00mm 2 , 8.75 Amps if preferred.
Blue........................... fuse to kill switch
Blue with white tracer......... kill sw to coils and electronic ignition unit
Orange with red tracer......... fuse to brake sw to brake light.
Orange with white tracer....... fuse to switch to horn.
Orange ........................ fuse to flasher then to indicator switch.
Orange with white tracer ...... indicator switch to left indicator lamps.
Orange with black tracer ...... indicator switch to right indicator lamps.

The following wires can be reduced to 9 / 0.30 , 0.65mm 2 , 5.75 Amps if preferred.

I'm basically in the same boat as you when it comes to finding time to get things done. However I do have another update when I find time to get out to the garage with my camera. But first I'll need to get to the store and pick up some batteries for it.
