Cant get flush mount gauge to seat

You probably didn't follow the instructions exactly. I have an fxdc as well and did the flush mount setup.
the one step did confuse me at first, the one where it tells you to turn the screws and rotate to seat the gauge or something like that. but I just re-read and back tracked a couple steps
